Did you compete? How many tournaments did you win?
Yes, I competed in fighting tournaments in Taiwan. I won seven out of ten.
How did you first get involved with martial arts?
I got involved in Martial Arts as a teenager, when my father introduced me to his childhood friend, Professor Cheng Man-Ching to study Tai Chi Chuan.
Who were your early influences?
I was intrigued by all the Chinese comic books that I read as a child.
What do you think is the major difference between training in the USA and training in China?
The major difference between training here in America and China is that the majority of the Chinese find learning and training a hardship due very limited time, funds and opportunity.
How many different fist forms and weapons are there in your system?
Fist form: One fist form.
Weapons: Tai Chi Sword, Tai Chi Staff and Tai Chi Knife
What was the last movies/TV shows/entertainment you saw that featured some martial arts? Do you think it did the art justice?
I felt that the Jet Li movies represent what is real and believable.
Do you think the commercialization, both in Asian and western, of martial arts has help or harm your martial arts? And why?
Nothing is entirely good or bad but is has definitely given more exposure as well as recognition to the art.
What do you think should be done to further promote martial arts?
If possible, we should work on standardizing the scoring method for all tournaments.
What advice do you have for people who want to learn your martial arts or martial arts in general?
Find a good teacher and be sure to practice daily on your own.
