Taekwondo - 3rd degree black belt

Andrea V. was seven when her parents enrolled her in Taekwondo school, hoping to give her something constructive to do in her free time. Taekwondo ended up playing a more significant role in her life than her parents originally envisioned.

In 1991, her father was diagnosed with eye cancer. The cancer was recurring and he died in 1997. Prior to his death, Taekwondo was a crucial resource from which Andrea V. draw on for mental strength. The combination of physical training and the desire to give something back to her father motivated Andrea V. to push herself to the meet her goals instead of giving in to her grief.

andre2 Andrea V. has excelled in a number of national and international competitions. She credits Taekwondo and the love for her father with inspiring her to succeed against life's difficulties. To this day. Andrea V. tries to incorporate the "martial arts training" — discipline, motivation and dedication — into her daily life.
